Heathy Morning Habits

Do you do pranayam regularly after waking up in the morning? If not then make it a habit from today itself. Two very beneficial pranayams you can do every morning in an empty stomach are — Bhastrika and Kapalbhati.

Bhastrika pranayam is a very basic breathing exercise.Sit upright. Calm down for sometime draining out all the thoughts of your mind. When you are comfortable inhale deeply and then exhale with the same force. Repeat this for about 2 minutes. The yoga guru Baba Ramdev recommends people to practice pranayam for no longer than 5 minutes.
Bhastrika pranayam has several benefits. It keeps your heart and lungs healthy, rids you of stress, makes you think positive, boosts energy, and increases immunity. But people who are hypertonic or suffer from heart diseases should not do this pranayam fast and forcefully. Make sure you do this pranayam slowly when you are comfortable.

Kapalbhati pranayam offers innumerable benefits to your body and mind. Sit comfortably with your spine erect. Now exhale forcefully such that your stomach moves inward towards your spine. In this exercise your focus should be on exhaling more than inhaling. Now repeat this process for about 5 to 10 minutes. If you are new to this pranayam then do this pranayam keeping in mind your endurance.
Kapalbhati keeps your respiratory tract clear, cuts risk of allergies and infections, improves the functioning of your entire body and is very useful for the stomach. Apart from this regular practice of kapalbhati pranayam 'kills' intestinal worms!

After you have done these two pranayams drink a glass of lukewarm water. And most importantly don't forget to start your day with a big smile :)
